What season is this?

Anyone else having the "what day is it even?" holiday confusion? Went out for a run and heard the Byrds singing in my head from Ecclesiastes 3:
1To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
So, what is the purpose of this week? That time between Christmas and New Year's that we coast around in low gear waiting for the fireworks. In the greater scheme of things, what is the purpose of being here, on the earth, between the first and second coming of Christ? We've had the first coming, the start of a new way of life. Some of us have forgotten, wandered off down rabbit holes of philosophy or worldly concern. Some of us have been so worn down by this broken world that we've forgotten there will be a second coming. Now i'm hearing a hobbit in my head wondering about second breakfast ...

4A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
 So, it seems like Solomon is saying, it is not more righteous to be joyful than to be patient, or faithful. Each of us is in our own season, while we are all together anticipating that which is coming.

7A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
i run up and down the hills, constantly making choices. Do i take the left turn and the easy mile home?  Do i charge up the hill and ignore my screaming lungs? For me, i do best when i stop to breathe and then start again. That's where it gets tricky. The starting again. If this week finds you at the side of the road, i will not say to you that you must get up and go and be joyful. Maybe it is your season to mourn, maybe it is a season of walking in peace.

1He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart.

Wishing you a beautiful season, whichever one you are in!
