turn to your neighbor

Have you ever wondered which part of the Body of Christ you are? Some people, it seems pretty obvious. That guy over there is a mouth, that girl over there is a hand. Who is the elbow, though? The kidneys? What if, when they say "Turn to your neighbor and say hello" during a morning worship service, you actually could see the part this person plays in the Body of Christ? Would we have more respect for those who serve a different part? Paul said to the Corinthians

21The eye cannot say to the hand, "I have no need of you," nor again the head to the feet, "I have no need of you." 22On the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, 23and on those parts of the body that we think less honorable we bestow the greater honor, and our unpresentable parts are treated with greater modesty, 24which our more presentable parts do not require.

i turn to my left and i see a sister in Christ who has been wounded. She is one who gives and loves and lives her life with passion for what she believes. i turn to the right and see a brother who is passionate about serving Christ, also. So passionate that he is willing to injure the sister on the left for the sake of the "greater mission" But what else did Paul say?

6If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together.
That person "in your way" is part of the same body with you. Let us find a way to move toward Jesus in peace, not in pieces! Come add your voice over at  Five Minute Friday link-up!

  1. What an interesting idea to see what part of the body our neighbor is. I like that. But as we can have more than one gift of the spirit would some be a hand/big toe/ear combination? ;) Maybe I've over thought it again!
