Gentle

Today is Good Friday, in the holiest of senses. Not good as in "everything is going well, all the people are being good". Good as in the One most capable, most authorized to rain down fire has chosen instead to be gentle, to be humble, to be a living sacrifice.

We paint the scene with pastels when it would have been as lurid as the news today. Goodness, in the face of ignorance and hatred and political grasping for power, seemed weak. Praise God for His unbounded ability to use gentle submission to defeat all that is harsh and strident and binding, to bring us freedom and love and joy!
